In God’s Time

In God’s time

Everyone longs to give himself to someone–
To have a deep soul relationship with another;
To be loved thoroughly and exclusively;
But God, to a Christian says:

"No, not until you are satisfied, fulfilled, and content
with being loved by Me alone;
with giving yourself totally and unreservedly to Me alone;
with having an intense, personal, and unique relationship
with Me;

Discovering that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found,
Will you be capable of the perfect human relationship
That I have for you.
You will never be united with another until you are united with Me;
Exclusive of anyone or anything else;
Exclusive of anyone to hear desires or longings.

I want you to stop planning, stop wishing,
And allow Me to give you the most thrilling plan existing–
One that you cannot imagine.
I want you to have the best!
Please allow Me to give you the best.
You just keep watching Me, experiencing the satisfaction
That I am.
Keep listening and learning the things I tell you.
You just wait, that’s all.

Don’t be anxious; don’t worry.
Don’t look around at the things others have gotten
or that I have given them.
Don’t look at the things you think you want.
You just keep looking to Me, or you’ll miss what I want to show you.

And then, when you’re ready.
I’ll surprise you with a love far more wonderful than any
you would dream of.
You see, until you are ready, and the one I have for you is ready.
(For I am working even at this moment to have both of you
ready at the same time);
Until you are both satisfied exclusively with Me, and the life
I’ve prepared for you,
You won’t be able to experience the love that exemplifies your
relationship with Me.
(For this is the perfect love.)

And, dear child, I want you to have this most wonderful love.
I want you to see, in the flesh, a picture of your relationship
with Me.
And enjoy, materially and concretely, the everlasting union
of beauty, perfection, and love that I offer you with Myself.
Know that I love you utterly. I am God; believe it, and be satisfied.

Keep A Quiet Heart

I am reading Keep A Quiet Heart by Elisabeth Elliott. As usual there
are a lot of quotes that really hit home. Here are a few of them that I
found towards the end of the book. ( I didn’t think about writing some
of them down until the last couple of chapters…LOL) Hopefully i will
be able to add some more…but here are some for now…

“Learning to Pray is learning to trust in the wisdom, the power, and
the love of our heavenly father, always so far beyond our dreams. He
knows our need and knows ways to meet it that have never entered our
heads. Things we feel sure we need for happiness may often lead to our
ruin. Things we think will ruin us, if we believe what the father tells
us and surrender ourselves into His strong arms, bring us deliverance
and joy.”(p.33)

Whenever I have resisted Him, I have cheated myself. Whenever I have yielded I have found joy.” (p.33)

“ The cause of our discontent: We simply do not Believe God. The
wilderness experience leads to the Promised Land. It is the path God
chose for us. His Word is established forever, and He tells us in a
thousand ways that His will is our peace, His choice will lead to
fulfillment and joy, the way of transgressors is hard. Do we suppose
tat we could find a better way than His?
 One of George Eliot’s characters say:
    You are seeking your own will my daughter. You are
seeking some good other than the law you are bound to obey. But how
will you find good? It is not a thing of choice; it is a river that
flows form the invisible throne, and flows by the path of obedience. I
say again, man cannot choose his duties. You may choose to forsake your
duties, and choose not o have the sorrow they bring. But you will go
forth, and what will you find, my daughter? Sorrow without duty- bitter
herbs, and no bread with them.” (p.51)

“Today is mine. Tomorrow is none of  my business. If I peer
anxiously into the fog of the future, I will strain my spiritual eyes
so that I will not see clearly what is required of me now.” (p.53)

“ He is not all that we would ask for, but it is precisely when we do
not have what we would ask for, and only then, that is when we can
percieve His all-sufficiency. It is when the sea is moonless that the
Lord has become my light.” (p.57)

“All along, let us remember, we are not asked to understand, but simple to obey.” (p.57)

“ Grant, Oh Lord my God, that I may never fall away in success of in
failure; that I may not be prideful in prosperity nor dejected in
adversity. Let me rejoice only what unites us and sorrow only in what
separates us. May I strive to please no one or fear to displease anyone
except Yourself. My I seek always the things that eternal and never
those that are temporal. May I shun any joy that is without You and
never seek any that is besides You. O Lord, may I delight in any work I
do for You and tire of any rest that is apart from You. My God let me
direct my heart towards You, and in my failings always repent with a
purpose of amendment.” St. Thomas Aquinas (p.59)

“My Lord, My God Forgive my faithfulness” (p.63)

Home Again

Well, Here I am back in the East Coast.  What an amazing adventure the Lord had me on for these last 6 months. He opened my heart to a new understanding of Him….His love is so amazing! Walls were torn down,I was really broken and refined. To me the summer was about learning how to be Vulnerable with Christ as well as other people. The boulders that I carried had to be made into an altar before Him. I had to learn how to let go of alot of things…Let go and let God. One analogy that the Lord revealed to me during this time was how similiar our walks are to climbing mountains. You can’t just look at a mountain and wish your way to the top. It’s literally a step by step process to achieve that goal. Sometimes we think that we are just spending too much time on one step…but in reality we don’t know what the Lord is preparing us for. There are also time when your just ready to give up and turn around becuase you lack the strengh to endure. Despite the many obstacles, Christ is there encouraging you to keep looking up and putting one step in front of you. When you finally make it to the top, the sight is breathtaking. You’re able to look back at where you have come from and see the places that Christ carried you through.You see how every step was worth it. After a little bit of time on top…resting…the Lord draws you into His arms, points at the next mountain and says.."see that mountain, I will give you the strengh to climb that one too…lean me.". Like the Israelites…we are not going to have extended times of milk and honey. The road ahead is going to be rocky but God always provides.

 During the fall, I learned about God’s provision.Alot of it was seeing how some of the things that Christ revealed to me came to pass. I struggled for a while with my desicion to stay. There
were so many things that I had to give up, ie a semester of school and other relationships from back home. But then the Lord gave me a peace about my desicion and things just fell into place. I was able to cancel my classes and postpone the things that worried me about some situations back home. It was amazing. I had an uncle tell me that he loved me and that was something that I hadn’t heard in 21 years. It was just really neat experiancing God’s provision. My scripture that The Lord gave me through the fall was Ecclessiasties 3:1. " In everything there is a season, a time and purpose under heaven." God’s plan is perfect!….In processing Ecc. 3:1 I learned how we have times that cycle like the seasons. Winter is the time that we feel so overburdened by the things that are going on around us. We feel so trapped in one place spiritually. We don’t see the growth. We also just long for the times of spring. The more we wait, the longer our winters seem.
 Spring: The time of renewing…where Christ grows and plants new seeds. He restores us and cultivates our ground to a new understanding of Him. He clears away some of the dead stuff and plants new things. It’s a time of hope…a time where we are learning or relearning some things.
 Summer: A time that we are on fire for the Lord. A time where we are applying what was restored in the spring. We are bearing fruit during this time and being a disciple unto God’s harvest. Things seem  to be easier than they were in the winter.
 Fall:  A time of harvest. A time that God prepares our hearts for the next winter. He has us preserved the promises that He has laid upon our hearts during the last couple of seasons. He Gives us the provision to last through the next winter.

Like the seasons, we constantly cycle through these mindsets and times that we have with the Lord. In every season though there is a period of hope and renewal. So many of us are afraid of our winters. We are afraid of those times that we don’t know where our next step is. When we look back on some of those times we see how the Lord was always there guiding us…even when it didn’t feel like it. I learned not to be afraid of the winter, but to embrace it. You never know what new flower the Lord is begining to grow in you…or others through you.

I’ll probably be writing alot about some of my experiances from Colorado. It’s going to take me a little while to process through some of these things, and transtion back into this reality here.It was such a different world out there….
